Crisis mental health support

Crisis teams are available across the UK. They can provide you with urgent mental health support, including on occasions when you may otherwise need to go to hospital.

All crisis teams work differently, but they usually consist of a number of mental health professionals such as psychiatrists, mental health nurses, social workers and support workers.

Once you are under a crisis team they can visit you in your home or elsewhere in the community, such as at a day centre. The crisis team will assess your needs and offer support by creating a care plan for you, to prevent a future crisis happening.

Crisis teams may not necessarily be available 24/7. If you are in imminent danger of harming yourself call 999.
