Susan became an RFEA trustee in 2020 and joined the board of the Forces Employment Charity on its formation in May 2022 after a long career as a senior civil servant in MoD.

During her time in Whitehall she gained a wealth of experience working alongside the military in a wide range of roles supporting military operations, delivering business requirements, HR functions, information technology and working with NATO, chairing international committees in support of operations. She chairs the Forces Employment Charity Remuneration Committee as well as being a member of the working group which helped to set up the charity.

Susan was awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours list in 2020 for Services to Defence.
